Hawks pull chord on Chargers after five frames

GRANGER — Woodward-Granger scored early and often in rolling to a 15-1 WCAC win over AC/GC in five innings Tuesday.

W-G (11-0, 5-0) scored twice in their first at-bat and five times in their second trip to the plate. AC/GC put a run on the board in the top of the third, but the hosts added seven in the bottom of the frame and a final tally in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Cole Theisen allowed a run on three hits and a walk in four innings of work, with Nick Brummond tossing an inning of relief. Theisen recorded three strikeouts and Brummond one.

Brady Aunspach was 3-for-4 with a double while Spencer Hanson had a single and a triple. Both drove in two runs and both scored three times.

Reese Jamison had two hits, two runs and three RBIs and Theisen a base hit and three RBIs to highlight the Hawk attack.

W-G hosts the Woodward Academy for a WCAC varsity doubleheader Thursday, with Des Moines North to visit Granger Friday. Thursday’s first game will start at 5 p.m.
