WOODWARD — Thirty-three combined runs on a total of 19 hits and 17 walks carried Woodward-Granger to a WCAC sweep of the struggling Woodward Academy Thursday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
W-G, the host in the first game, posted a 14-0 win in five innings before claiming a 19-0 four-inning win in the second game as the visitor. The wins lift the Hawks to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Knights (0-9, 0-8) have been outscored 181-11 this season, 168-4 in WCAC games.
Jay Dorenkamp allowed a hit and two walks while striking out eight in collecting the pitching win in the first game, with Nate Rosen throwing a four-frame no-hitter in game two. Rosen walked one batter and struck out five in throwing 51 pitches in four frames.
Reese Jamison had a single, a triple, two RBIs and scored three times in the opener, with Bryce Achenbach adding two singles and a RBI while Matt Buch also had a single and a triple. Cole Theisen had a double and two RBIs, with Nick Brummond providing a single, two runs and three stolen bases.
Theisen finished with six RBIs and a single in the second game, with Brummond driving home three runs on a single and a double. Achenbach had three steals and scored three times, with Jamison tallying four RBIs.
