OSCEOLA — It required five pitchers and a continual addition to the scoring column, but Woodward-Granger finally emerged with an 11-9 win over host Clarke in non-conference baseball Friday.

W-G (6-0) trailed, 4-3, after three frames, then fell into a 6-3 hole when Clarke (1-2) plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Five Hawks crossed the plate in the top half of the fifth, with a single tally in the sixth providing a 9-6 advantage. The Indians closed to within 9-8 with two sixth-inning runs, with the guests spreading their lead to 11-8 with a final pair of scores in the seventh.

The hosts were not done, scoring once in the home half of the seventh but proved unable to add to their rally, leaving W-G in possession of the two-run win.

Jay Dorenkamp went two innings on the hill for W-G, allowing four runs on two hits and five walks. Worth Henry was touched for five runs (four earned) in 3-2/3 innings of work, during which he yielded eight hits and a walk. Dorenkamp had two strikeouts and Henry four.

Reese Jamison recorded two out while issuing a walk, with Trevor Simmons walking one and striking out one in his 1/3 frame. Collin Nardini also toed the rubber to record an out.

Jamison drove in two runs with a double and a single, with Joe Rhodes singling twice and driving home a run. Brandon Worley, Bryce Achenbach and Jack Grell also had hits, with Grell adding two RBIs. Worley and Simmons also had RBIs for the Hawks, who were issued nine bases on balls.

Worley and Worth both scored three times, Hunter Pifer twice, and Jamison, Achenbach and Simmons once each.

W-G is hosts Ogden Monday, visits Madrid Tuesday and will then host Pleasantville for a varsity twin bill Thursday. All three dates are WCAC contests.
