PANORA — Panorama’s softball team produced a double-digit run total for the second consecutive evening, and this time the result was a win.
The Panthers dropped a 20-11 season opening WCAC game at West Central Valley Monday, but on Tuesday found the win column with a 12-2 five-inning victory over visiting Woodward-Granger in conference play.
Each team scored a single run in the first inning, but Panorama plated three, two, and three more in the three frames to open a 9-1 gulf. W-G scored once in the top of the fifth, but the game ended early when three Panorama runs touched the dish in the bottom of the frame.
Grace Richey collected the win in the ring. She allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk in five innings while striking out seven.
Tyme Boettcher had three singles, with Shey Storesund and Jaidyn Sellers having two hits apiece, as did Lindsey VanGundy and Lindy Nelson. Jazmyn Sellers hit a single and a double, Grace Webner a double and Claire Woodworth a single.
Jazmyn Sellers finished with four RBIs and Boettcher and Brix Gymer with two RBI each, with Jaidyn Sellers, VanGundy, Nelson and Webner driving in one run apiece.
Rian Jamison was handed the loss for the visitors. She yielded 12 runs (six earned, six not) on 15 hits and a walk in 4-2/3 frames. Jamison finished with four strikeouts, with the junior trying to help her own cause with a pair of RBI-doubles.
Katelyn Bandstra had two singles, with Emma Anderson, Brylee Bice, Georgia Simmons, Chloe Houge and Bella McDivitt also had base hits for W-G. Anderson and Bandstra scored the two Hawk runs.
Panorama hosts Des Moines Christian Thursday, with Woodward-Granger to entertain Van Meter Thursday for a varsity doubleheader.
