WOODWARD — A new reign began Thursday at Woodward-Granger, as Miss Briley Bermel was crowned Homecoming queen while Mr. Gabe Yingst was chosen as W-G’s new king.
The pair were presented their crowns at a coronation ceremony Thursday that followed the traditional parade.
Members of the queen’s court included Sophie David, Josie Noland, Ashlyn Soelberg and Alissa Smeltzer, with Noah Gleason, Noah Hoyt, Hunter Pifer and Sam Peterson comprising the king’s court.
Woodward-Granger will battle crosstown rival Woodward Academy at 7 p.m. tonight. The host Hawks enter the contest 3-2 overall while the Knights are 2-3. Both squads will be looking for their first Class 1A District 7 win of the season after each was upended last week.
