Host Bulldogs sweep past Panther netters

VAN METER — The Panorama volleyball team fell, 3-0, to host Van Meter Tuesday. The Bulldogs won, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-18 to improve to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in WCAC play while the Panthers fell to 6-15, 1-4 with the loss.

Panorama had played Monday at the Saydel Invitational, finishing with a 2-2 record. The Panthers topped Des Moines North 21-11 and 21-9 and Clarke, 21-19 and 21-5 while falling, 23-21 and 21-18 to Des Moines East. Saydel edged Panorama, 21-16, 14-21, 15-12 in the other Panther match. Individual statistics were not available.

On Tuesday the Panthers were led in kills by Brooke Halterman’s six, with Nicole Rolfes adding four kills, Morgan Johnk two and Hope Wilderman one. Kennedy Kuta and Halterman each finished with two blocks, with Johnk and Rolfes having one each.

Kuta provided 12 assists and Johnk one, with Olivia Richey recording 11 digs. Erica Block, Hannah Woodworth and Johnk had four digs apiece, with Kuta providing two.

An 11-for-11 effort with one ace from Kuta led the Panther servers, with Woodworth 6-8-1 behind the line and Wilderman 5-5-1. Richey served 9-of-10, with Johnk 6-of-7 and Rolfes 4-of-5.

Panorama is off until Tuesday when they visit Woodward-Granger for a WCAC tangle.
