Host Tigers keep Jayette netters winless

ADEL — Perry returned to Adel Tuesday to face host ADM for the second time in less than a week. Thursday’s volleyball meeting was as a part of the ADM Classic, while Tuesday’s match was an official Raccoon River Conference contest, which the Tigers won, 3-0.

ADM (6-5, 1-0) swept to the win on scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-14, denying Perry (0-15, 0-2) their first match victory of the season.

The home team held a decided edge in serving, finishing 60-of-71 (85 percent) with 17 aces while Perry served only 34 times, converting on 24 (70 percent) and with just two aces.

Gabby West had four kills to lead Perry, with Peyton Tunink adding two kills and Jasmine Shriver and Quinn Whiton one apiece. Whiton had six assists and Tunink one, with West making one block at the net.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

Magley Orellana had a team-high 17 digs and Shriver and Whiton four each while Mackenzie Ayers, Kacy Nevitt, Stephanie Garcia, Tunink and West had two digs apiece and Jayna Kenney one.

Nevitt served 5-of-7 with two aces, with Shriver 5-of-6, Ayers 4-of-6, Whiton 4-of-7, Tunink 3-of-4, Orellana 2-of-2 and Kenney 1-of-1 behind the serving line.

Perry host an invitational Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Carlisle, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Earlham, Ogden and Panorama will round out the field.
