Fire destroyed a house in rural Boone County early Friday.

It is unknown at this hour whether the house at 2024 Clover Ave. was occupied, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s office and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

Perry Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Hinds said he was first on the scene, and the house was already fully engulfed and appeared to have been burning for some time.

Hinds said it seemed unusual that the fire at the house, which lies very widely exposed on Boone County Road P54 just north of 305th Street, was not reported sooner. The fire was reported to the Perry Police Department about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

The 99-year-old, two-story house is owned by Polyzylon Perry LLC of Southlake, Texas. It was formerly owned by Ronald Dean Mulder of Perry until September 2012.
