Perry linemen Cole Snyder and Francisco Colon block for quarterback Jacob Nelson on this quarterback keeper against visiting Humboldt Friday.

Host Perry was all but helpless to withstand a determined ground attack from Humboldt Friday, with the Wildcats chewing up Dewey Field for 449 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 50 carries en route to a 56-0 victory.

The shutout was the sixth such loss of the season for Perry (0-9, 0-5), who were outscored 435-42 this season.

Humboldt (2-7, 1-4) had complete dominance of the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, yielding just 54 rushing yards on 28 attempts to the Bluejays and harassing quarterback Jacob Nelson into just 4-of-10 passing for only 14 yards. Kato Dougan had three receptions for 11 yards and Carlos Vargas one for three to account for the aerial portion of the offense.

Cori Alamina had 39 tough-running yards on seven carries, with Wilber Ramirez rushing 12 times for 12 yards and Nelson eight times for eight yards while Dougan lost five yards on his lone carry.

The Wildcat numbers were starkly different, with Jamison Heinz running seemingly at will, gaining 324 yards and scoring four times on 16 carries. Caden Matson (6-50), Jaden Jensen (4-36, 1 touchdown), Carter Krichau (3-13, 1 TD), Tanner McKimmee (3-19) and Gabe Gidel (2-7, 1 TD) also hauled the rock for the Wildcats.

Matson was 2-for-3 for 25 yards and a score and Jacob Thurm 2-for-3 for 45 yards through the air for the guests. Caden Baker had an 18-yard TD reception for Humboldt.

Heinez scored on a 65 yard run and Baker made his scoring catch — set up by a blocked punt — as the guests grabbed a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play.

A Perry fumble led to a 38-yard Heinz burst in the second period, with Heinz and Gidel each adding scores for a 35-0 halftime lead. Kicker Max Mason converted on all eight PAT boots during the win.

A continual clock ran in the second half for the eighth time in nine games for Perry this season, but Humboldt was still able to score freely, with Heinz darting in untouched for more than 20 yards out and Krichau finding the end zone from six yards away for a 49-0 lead.

Humboldt added a final score on a 22-yard sprint from Jensen in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

A total of 16 seniors were in uniform for Perry Friday. Anthony Macias, Collin Malmberg, Charley Guardado, Ever Tobar, Byron Melendrez, Anthony Burgos, Jordan Long, Tucker Strough, William Hibbert, Jason Zepeda, Cole Snyder, Dougan, Nelson, Ramirez, Alamina and Vargas all made their final appearances for the Bluejays at the game.
