Huskies hand host Jayettes conference loss

Winterset turned a 16-point halftime lead into a 39-point victory with a 63-24 win over Perry in Raccoon River Conference girls basketball Friday. The Huskies moved to 12-6 overall and 10-5 in RRC play while Perry fell to 2-16, 2-14.

The Jayettes were to have hosted Gilbert for a league game Saturday afternoon, but weather concerns forced the cancellation of the game, which will not be made up.

Kennedy Tunink had seven points for Perry, with Lydia Olejniczak adding five. The home team received four points apiece from Kathryn West and Lanie Fish, with Quinn Whiton and Michelle Tobar each adding two points.

Winterset, which led, 33-17 at the at the break, was led by Thea Banning’s 16 points, with Jena Young contributing 14.
