Generations of Perry Hy-Vee workers gathered in the Spring Valley Ballroom of the Hotel Pattee Saturday evening to congratulate two co-workers on reaching their 40-year milestones: veteran kitchen staffer Marie Pohl and veteran of the Hy-Vee baker Karen Martin.
The two 40-year employees of the Perry Hy-Vee retired this week and were treated to a free public retirement party Saturday afternoon and an employee party in the evening.
Pohl said her retirement plans will start with a bit of rest before she and her husband start touring some of the 44 U.S. states still on their to-see list. Martin said she will be spending lots of time spoiling her grandchildren.
Congrats, Aunt Marie!
One more gaff from the Chief staff. Have visited 44 states, six left on list to visit.
Thanks, James, but we are NOT the Chief. We are ThePerryNews.com. Totally different and far more widely read. So as you can see, gaffes are easily made and easily corrected.
Thank you, Jim, for a very nice article. It was a memorable day, and I appreciate your putting the cherry on top with your article on your website.
Have a wonderful retirement, Marie! Happy trails!
