Induction ceremony held for Perry chapter of National Honor Society

Nineteen new members were inducted to the Perry High School chapter of the National Honor Society Nov. 9 at the Perry Performing Arts Center. They join 19 current members. Photo submitted.

Four members of the Perry High School Class of 2017 and 15 from the Class of 2018 were installed as the newest members of the PHS chapter of the National Honor Society Nov. 9. The ceremony, held at the Perry Performing Arts Center, officially welcomed the 19 newest members into a chapter already boasting 19 members of the Class of 2017 who were inducted last year.

Chapter President Brooke Huntington served as emcee, with Alexandrya Hopkins speaking on the topic of scholarship while Grace Marburger discussed leadership. Service was the subject of remarks from Devon Archer, with Karley Whelchel, Vice President of Membership, touching on the importance of character.

Alicia Calderon administered the NHS oath, with PHS Principal Dan Marburger offering congratulatory remarks.

New inductees from the Class of 2017 were Brian Amaya, Nic Fellom, Yris Guzman and Adan Medina. Installed from the Class of 2018 were Ciera Bronnenberg, Julissa Calderon, Tanner Duffy, Vivian Gonzalez, Alyssa Kruger, Aaron Lockwood, Star Love, Ethan McFarland, Janet Ortiz, Gabe Ridnour, Karen Romero, Isabel Saemisch, David Santacruz, Alex Thompson and Sid Vancil.

Current members from the Class of 2017 are Devon Archer, Alicia Calderon, Alexandrya Hopkins, Dax Kresse, Chelsea Krueger, Grace Marburger, Mariah McNamara, Edwardo Medina, Emma Olejniczak, Samantha Paulin, Hannah Sackett, Tyler Soll, Sarah Sweet, Adrian Thompson and McKinley Thompson. Amani Al-Rashid, Brooke Huntington, Haley Vaughn and Karley Whelchel comprise the chapter’s executive board.

Brandon Weeks and Alyse Garcia are the faculty advisors for the PHS chapter.
