Iowa band of brothers meets for Veterans Day lunch

Making their own Easy Company, the Becker band of brothers met Wednesday for a Veterans Day lunch at the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.

The Becker brothers include Art Becker of Charter Oak, Gene Becker of Pomeroy, Gary Becker of Perry, Allen Becker of Perry and Jerry Becker of Glidden.

“Just a little get together,” said Gary Becker. “We do it when we can.”

The Beckers lived on a farm near Breda, Iowa, until 1955, when their father moved to Thayer, Iowa.

They are now retired but worked for many years in Iowa, with Gene working for Mid-American Energy in Carroll and Pomeroy for about 40 years. Gary was at Mc Atee Tire in Perry for 16 years and Wiese Industries for 29 more. Allen retired after 50 years in Perry with IPM, Oscar Mayer and Tyson. Jerry was an employee of the city Glidden for 50 years and also worked as an elections deputy. Art farmed around Dunlap and Charter Oak for some 55 years.
