Just in time for the blood-drinking season of Halloween, the Waukee Area Arts Council will host the Iowa Shakespeare Experience (ISE) production of “Dracula Evermore,” an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 classic novel of horror, “Dracula.”
The ISE show is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 pm at ArtsCentral, 405 Maple St. in Waukee. Tickets are available online at RedTruckTickets.com, at the Waukee Hardware or at the door.
The story line of “Dracula Evermore” introduces Count Dracula and tells of his move from Transylvania to England and the conflicts that occur with Professor Van Helsing and Jonathan Harker.
Cindy DePond, Waukee Area Arts Council spokesperson, said the community “welcomes ISE’s company of professional actors to Waukee for a wonderful theatre-in-the-round experience in our beautiful ArtsCentral. Theatre-in-the-round means that the audience surrounds the actors on all sides. It’s an up-close experience.”
DePond said the modernized version of Stoker’s masterpiece will appear to Dallas County’s suburban hipsters.
“Dracula Evermore is a sophisticated adaptation that will capture your imagination and fear and let you explore the mysteries of the night,” she said. “It’s the perfect Halloween show.”
ISE is a seven-year-old professional theater company that performs many Shakespeare works along with other classics of the stage. Their production of “Dracula Evermore” was adapted and directed by Lorenzo Sandoval, ISE’s artistic director.
Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for youth and include a reception, with sweet and savory snacks.
