WOODWARD — A pinch-hit, two-out, two-run double in the top of the eighth inning lifted Southeast Valley to a 3-1 win over host Woodward-Granger in non-conference softball Friday.

SE Valley (21-10) plated a run in the top of the seventh to grab a 1-0 lead, but W-G (6-28) countered when Natalie Weaver doubled, moved up on a sacrifice bunt from Allie Moore, and scored on a ground out from Audrey Simmons.

Alissa Smeltzer doubled to put the winning run in scoring position, but a pop out ended the inning.

A walk and a single with one out, and then a ground out, but two Jaguars in scoring position in the top of the eighth, with Maddie VanSickle doubling home both runs.

W-G rallied in the bottom of the frame when Chloe Houge walked and Emma Anderson singled with one out. A Katelyn Bandstra sacrifice pushed both runners into scoring position, but a pop-out ended the game.

The Hawks also left runners on second and third in the second, with SE Valley leaving two runners in scoring spots in the second and fifth while also leaving runners on third base in the third and sixth frames.

Riley Jamison yielded three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks in eight innings on the rubber. She finished with one strikeout in the tough-luck loss.

Mackenzie Crampton surrendered a run on six hits and a walk in her eight innings of work. She recorded six strikeouts.

Mady Jaselike had a double and a single with a RBI for SE Valley, with Emily Jaselike hitting a double while Crampton had a double and a single. Five of the six Jaguar hits were doubles.
