Jason “Jake” Durbin, 42, of Woodward passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2018.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 26 from 1-7:30 p.m., with family present from 5-7:30 p.m., at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care.

Memorials may be given for the benefit of Jake’s children and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Jason “Jake” Carroll Durbin was born Feb. 8, 1976, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Donavon LaDel and Carolyn Kay (Hanysh) Durbin.

He attended the Perry Community Schools with the class of 1995.

After graduating, he drove truck, hauling grain for local farmers. In 1997 he started Durbin Auto Body in Perry and later added Jason’s Towing to the business in 2007.

He was united in marriage to Emily Belgarde.

Jake was very involved with auto racing from 1997 to 2015 and was known as “Jake the Snake” because of his ability to move between cars. He qualified for Super Nationals for eight years in a row and won numerous track championships.

In death he rejoins his maternal grandparents, Carroll and Joyce Hanysh; paternal grandparents, Veronice and Lynn Durbin; uncle, Donnie Hanysh; and aunt, Rebecca Durbin.

Left to cherish Jake’s memory are his parents, Donavon and Carolyn Durbin of Perry; daughter, Alexis Leann Durbin of Bondurant; son, Grady Donavon Durbin of Perry; sister, Tracey (Darrell) Bennett and their children, Jesse, Cole and Kaydee Bennett; partner, Jennifer Clausen of Woodward; an uncle, Kevin (Doreen) Durbin of Jefferson and his daughter, Kim (Ken) Roswell of Dumont, S.D.
