Perry's Grace Stewart looks for space as Bondurant-Farrar's Lexi Bedier defends Wednesday.

BONDURANT — Perry was held scoreless for over 10 minutes during one stretch of the first half, an offensive drought that contributed to a 43-28 loss to Bondurant-Farrar in their Class 4A Region 7 first round contest Wednesday.

B-F (8-14) was able to open a 9-3 lead in the first quarter, with Perry (3-19) scoring with just less than three minutes in the frame to cut the gap to 9-5. The margin would be 13-5 at the end of the frame and swell to 19-5 before Alyssa Kruger made a 3-point shot with seconds remaining in the half to set the score at 19-8 entering intermission.

Perry had trouble even firing off shots in the first half, and four times had shots swatted away. The Jayettes secured few offensive rebounds, while the Lady Jays scored five times off of their own missed shots.

Rather than slink away, Perry showed plenty of moxie by fighting their way back into contention. The guests twice closed to within six points, that last time when trailing, 27-21, five minutes into the third period.

Unfortunately for the Jayettes, the Lady Jays had an answer for each small run, as a 3-pointer and a layup quelled two spurts and allowed the hosts to enter the final stanza with a 33-24 edge.

A 10-2 run from the hosts pushed the score to 43-26, with Perry adding the only two points scored by either team in the final three minutes.

B-F finished the contest 6-of-9 at the foul line while making five 3-pointers, with Perry 4-of-5 at the stripe and sinking four treys.

Taylor Berggren made three second-half 3-pointers to lead B-F with 11 points, with Avery Fried adding 10 points. Casi Waterhouse and Kaylee Seitzer had six points apiece, with both Riley Gilroy and Katie Fogarty scoring five points.

B-F advance to face host DC-G Saturday at 7 p.m.

Perry was led by seven points from Molly Lutmer. Kruger and Isabel Saemisch had six points apiece, Gabby West five and Grace Stewart four. Kruger hit two 3-pointers and Lutmer and Saemisch one each.

The loss ends the prep cage careers of Kruger, Saemisch and Stewart.
