Perry welcomed both Algona and Boone to the MCB Pool Tuesday for a double-dual, in which each team is scored independently against each opponent.

Boone nipped Perry, 84-72, with Perry topping Algona, 85-61 while Boone outscored Algona, 105-50.

Perry head coach Jean Dowd was pleased with the effort of her team, noting it had been at least a decade since the Jayettes had come with 12 points of beating the Toreadors, who often outnumber Perry by many factors.

Dowd was pleased with the times the 200 and 400 free relays are posting this early in the season as well as with some of the individual efforts Tuesday, especially the new school record set by sophomore Quin Mahler-Moreno in the 200 free.

Mahler-Moreno broke her own mark by finishing 1/1 (against Boone/Algona) in 2 minutes, 24 seconds. Teammate Jenna Nelson was third to Boone in 2:28.59.

Sophia McDevitt as 1/1 in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.77, with Mahler-Moreno 1/1 in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.56.

Algona did not have an entrant in the 500 free, which Lilly Riley won in 6:06.48, with Emily Dowd second after touching in a personal-best 6:39.06, a drop of 4.14 seconds.

Riley was 2/1 in the 50 free in 28:46 seconds, with Zoe Hibbert 2/2 in the 200 IM in 2:36.3, by two seconds a new personal best.

Sophia McDevitt was 2/1 in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.11 while younger sister Maddie was third to Boone in 1:22.18, a new PB by .49 ticks.

The 200 medley relay of Dowd, Riley, Nelson, and Maddie McDevitt was 2/2 in 2:13.97.

The foursome of Riley, Hibbert, Mahler-Moreno, and Sophia McDevitt shaved seven seconds off their prior best time this season in the 400 free relay by winning against both foes in 4:00.35.

Sophia McDevitt, Mahler-Moreno, Hibbert, and Nelson posted a season best (for this grouping) in the 200 free relay as well, finishing in 1:50.85.

Perry returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when they entertain Indianola.
