Jayette swimmers extend unbeaten streak to six

The Perry High School swim team extended their season-opening win streak to six meets Tuesday night, defeating both the Boone High School and Algona High School swim teams in Boone.

“It was another great night for Perry swimming!” said Coach Jean Dowd, who is leading the Jayettes to their most successful season.

Three Perry swimmers set personal best times in individual events and two season-best relay times were set. Quin Mahler-Moreno broke a 28-year Boone pool record, shaving 1.64 seconds off the old record of 1:08.79 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Perry defeated Boone 60 to 41, the first Jayette win over the Toreador swimmers since 2012. Algona also fell to Perry 61-33.
