Perry's Molly Lutmer begins to make a soft pass to a teammate against visiting Bondurant-Farrar Friday.

BONDURANT — Familiar foe Bondurant-Farrar crushed Perry’s hopes of an upset with a dominating first half Wednesday to claim a 55-35 win in their Class 4A Region 7 meeting.

The Lady Jays (14-8) held the Jayettes (6-16) to no field goals in the entire first half. Perry trailed, 14-2, after one quarter and by a yawning 39-9 gulf at the half. The Jayettes did not make a shot from the field in the first 16 minutes, scoring only at the free throw line, where they converted 9-of-12 attempts.

The Jayettes were much improved in the second half, outscoring the Lady Jays 16-10 in the third frame and 10-6 in the fourth, but their deficit was simply too great to overcome.

Molly Lutmer had 16 points to pace Perry, with Jayna Kenney adding eight points, Lydia Olejniczak seven and Hannah Peterson four.

Avery Fried led B-F with 18 points, with Riley Gilroy and Katie Fogarty adding 11 points apiece. Katelyn Lappe provided eight points, Taylor Berggren three and Casi Waterhouse and Kaylee Seitzer two each.

B-F advances to face host Grinnel Saturday at 6 p.m.

The loss ends Perry’s campaign. The Jayettes won only once in 2018-2019 but claimed six victories this season. Seniors Lutmer, Peterson and Odaly Perla were in uniform for Perry for the final time in their prep careers in the loss.
