Jayettes fall to Lady Jays, Wildcats in conference play

CARLISLE — The Perry softball team dropped an 8-3 Raccoon River Conference contest at Carlisle Wednesday after suffering a 13-1 loss in league play to visiting Bondurant-Farrar Monday.

Perry grabbed a 1-0 lead over Carlisle with a run in the top of the second, but a Wildcat run in the bottom of the frame and three more in the third gave the hosts a 4-1 edge. The Jayettes put single tallies on the board in the fourth and fifth, with a Carlisle mark in the fourth putting the score at 5-3 entering the sixth.

The hosts tacked on three runs in their half of the frame, with Perry unable to score in the seventh, thus taking the loss.

Aidyn Hood had a double and a single, and Maci Tunink two hits and two RBIs for Perry. Lydia Olejniczak had a single, a walk and a run scored. with Kennedy Tunink walking once and scoring twice. Macy Killmer drove in a run, with Taylor Atwell being hit by a pitch to account for the rest of the Perry attack.

Jayna Kenney, who had a base hit of her own, allowed four runs on two hits, three walks and a hit batsman in 2-2/3 frames while striking out one. Maci Tunink pitched 3-1/3 frames, allowing four runs on six hits, one walk and one hit batter.

Olejniczak had a single, a stolen base and scored on a Killmer ground out for Perry Monday.

Kenney allowed eight runs on seven hits in 1-2/3 stanzas with one walk and one hit batter, with Maci Tunink yielding five runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk. She struck out two in 2-1/3 innings.
