JEFFERSON — Perry belted 14 hits Tuesday to fuel a 13-3 win over host Greene County in six innings of non-conference softball.
The Rams (2-12) plated an unearned run in their first at-bat, but the Jayettes (8-3) scored twice in both the first and second innings, with a three-run fourth opening a 7-1 margin.
A pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth allowed the hosts to close to within 7-3, but Perry responded with a six-run sixth to end the game early after Greene County could not score in their final trip to the plate.
Emma Olejniczak threw five innings for Perry, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Sid Vancil yielded one hit and struck out one in an inning of relief.
Jo Diw was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs for the Jayettes, with Adriana Eastman 2-for-3, including a two-run double with two outs in the sixth.
Gabby West was 2-for-3 with a double, while Olejniczak and Rachel Kinney were both 2-for-4 at the dish. Alyssa Kruger and Maddie West also had hits for Perry.
Jenna Beyers tossed 5-2/3 frames for the Rams. She surrendered 13 runs (nine earned) on 14 hits while walking three and striking out three. Hannah Promes struck out one batter in a brief relief appearance.
Megan Carey had a hit, scored twice, drove in a run and had three steals for the hosts.
Perry visits Bondurant-Farrar tonight before hosting Ballard Thursday.
