JEFFERSON — The Perry softball team survived a serious, two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a 7-6 win over host Greene County in non-conference play Tuesday.

Leading 6-4, Perry scored a final, critical run when Kennedy Tunink singled home Adriana Eastman, who had reached on a walk and moved up when Gabby West drew a two-out bases on balls.

Greene County (0-7) used two singles and a run-scoring ground ball to close to within 7-5 in their final at-bat. A pop-out followed, but base hits drove in another run and put Rams on both first and second base with two outs.

Jayette pitcher Jayna Kenney had gone the distance and was left in the ring to close out the win, if she could. The freshman answered with a come-backer to the circle, with a short toss to first base ending the contest and lifting Perry to 2-6 overall.

Kenney allowed six runs (five earned) on 11 hits. She struck out four batters and, crucially, did not issue a walk.

Eastman had two singles and a RBI while scoring three times for the guests, with Cassidy Heck hitting a RBI-double while West added a double and Bella Nath two base hits.

Lydia Olejniczak reached base in all four of her at-bats with two singles, a double and a walk. She scored once, as did Peyton Tunink, who also had a hit. Macy Killmer contributed as well, stealing a base, scoring twice and driving in a run with a single.

Emma Hoyle started for the hosts, lasting 4-1/3 innings while surrendering six runs, only two of which were earned. She allowed eight hits and two walks and struck out four.

Jenna Beyers yielded a run on three hits and two walks while fanning two in 2-2/3 frames of relief.

The Rams received three hits and two runs from Izzy Bravard, two hits and two runs from Megan Carey and a hit and two runs from Beyers, with Carmyn Paup providing a base hit and driving home a total of three runs.

Perry visits Bondurant-Farrar tonight before hosting Ballard Thursday.
