A Celebration of Life for Jordan West, 32, of Minburn will be held Friday, Sept. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Springfield Golf Course in Springfield, S.D. Private funeral services, with burial in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home in Wagner, S.D.

Jordan Thomas West was born in Mitchell, S.D., on June 18, 1991, the son of Richard C. and Margaret (Hofer) West. Jordan passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, in Redfield, Iowa, as the result of a car accident.

In 2009, Jordan graduated from CMB High School in Baxter, IA and then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

Jordan lived and worked in SD and KS. His current residence was in Minburn, IA. He was employed at Kwik Star in Perry, IA.

Jordan was active in baseball, football, basketball and golf in high school. He loved playing golf with family, friends and especially with his dad, who was his very best friend. He missed his dad immensely.

Jordan was a huge sports fan and loved cheering for the Tennessee Titans on Sundays.

He was an avid reader and writer. He had written short stories and always dreamed of writing a novel. He loved doing literary discussions, including Bible studies and especially cherished the friends he made during these discussions.

Jordan was a very kind, selfless and giving person. He had a huge heart, gave the best hugs and loved to help others. Regardless of being a friend, family or total stranger, he would give you the shirt off his back.

He loved music, especially Bob Dylan.

Jordan is survived by his mother, Margaret West of Springfield, S.D.; siblings, Deb Waddell of Adel, Chuck (Jean) West of Adel, Andrea (Mark) Parzyk of Lancaster, Califonia, and Mike (Kenzie) West of Springfield, S.D.; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Simon) Mackenzie and great-niece, Zoe, of Minneapolis, Connor Waddell of Des Moines, Noah Waddell of Adel, Jacob West of Nashville, Tennessee, Matthew West of Lenexa, Kansas, Anna West of Columbia, Missouri, and John Parzyk of Denver; several aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Jordan was preceded in death by his father, Dick West; and grandparents, Dick and Shirley West and Sammy and Lydia Hofer.
