To the editor:

In the aftermath of Perry school shooting last week, we wanted to give back and do something to help the community and schools.

Being we are Perry High School graduates, and Perry is home, we felt it was a way to bring people together. A Community Spaghetti Lunch has been planned for Sunday, Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Perry. (The Elks has donated the building.)

We are looking for sponsors/donations to help with expenses only. Volunteers are already stepping up to help. We are planning to serve anywhere from 650-800 people with spaghetti, red/white sauce, lettuce salad, bread sticks and desserts. There will also be to-go meals available.

This will be a free-will donation, and all proceeds will go to Perry schools to help with the needs of the students. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call Janet Hick at 515-321-7380 or Vicki Klein at 515-979-7710. We have created a Facebook event for this if you would like to go to it. Our plan is to add the sponsors’ names to the page as they are recognized.

Please make checks payable to: Perry Community Schools, P.O. Box 129, Perry, IA 50220

Thant you in advance.
