The ardent souls exiting the Perry Performing Arts Center after the Lorie Line concert Monday night raised the temperature to 55 degrees at 10:15 p.m.

Kingly joy was served up royally Monday night at the Perry Performing Arts Center in a holiday chamber music concert headlined by gospel music veteran and pianist Lorie Line.

More than a dozen songs were performed, including “Daughter of the King,” an original piece by Line.

Baritone Cody Schuebel was the featured vocalist, and the chamber orchestra was composed of Ethan Yeshaya on bass, Jose James on percussion and woodwinds, Megan Dvorak on oboe and English horn, Randall Davidson on cello and Dawson Redenius on trumpet.

From Perry, Line’s tour travels to Oconomowoc, Wis., and will continue until Dec. 23 with only one day off, Monday, Dec. 5.

Line said the theme of the 2017 tour started when one of her fans said to her, “You are special. You, my dear, are a daughter of the King.” The notion struck Line.

“I was so deeply touched,” she said. “I guess I had never thought about it in those words. But I immediately started walking differently, holding my head a little higher. My faith was restored. I am special. I am a daughter of The King.”

From this seed the 2017 holiday show began to develop until “one day it came to me.,” Line said. “King of Kings. Of course! My King. My Lord of Lords. Living forever and ever . . . in me. That’s what the birth of Jesus means to me. Christmas. My King of Kings. In my 28 years of touring, this year’s theme and title is my favorite.”

Line is married to her business partner-husband, Tim Line, and they live on Lake Minnetonka, Minn. She is a member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, alongside such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Prince, Judy Garland and “Whoopee” John Wilfahrt.
