April 22, 2019

  • An officer removed a junk vehicle from the 200 block of S. Madison Street, with the owner’s permission, after it was served a notice.
  • An officer removed a junk vehicle from the 400 block of S. Main Street, with the owner’s permission, after it was served a notice.
  • An officer followed up on a property at First and Walnut streets. A large amount of the property was cleaned up. When the new owners take it over, the rest of the work will be done.
  • An officer followed up on a property at Sixth and S. Union streets, where two junk vehicles were served. One was removed over the weekend. Officer will follow up with the owner on the other one.
  • An officer followed up on County Line Road on a property that was served. Several items were removed over the weekend and cleaned up. The owner of two vehicles got them cleaned out, and they will be removed this week. The officer will follow up later in the week to check the progress.
  • An officer removed two junk vehicles and a bunch of appliances from a property in the 300 block of S. Cedar Street, with the permission from the property owner, after speaking to him.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a possible phone scam dealing with credit card debt.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding extra patrol at his house due to a breakup.
  • An officer along with Madrid Fire/Rescue were dispatched to a gas leak in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street. Black Hills Energy was called to repair the leak.
  • An officer shared information regarding a past theft case with a neighboring agency that has had similar cases involving the same suspects.
  • An officer followed up with the victim of a theft case to return some recovered property.

April 23, 2019

  • An officer met with a victim of a vehicle burglary in another jurisdiction and returned some personal property that was recovered by Madrid Police.
  • An officer followed up on a junk vehicle that was served in the 400 block of E. Ninth Street. The vehicle had been removed by the owner.
  • An officer removed a junk vehicle in the 600 block of S. Main Street after the owner gave permission.
  • An officer removed a junk vehicle in the 200 block of S. State Street after the owner gave permission. The vehicle was served a junk notice previously.
  • An officer drew up and served three junk vehicle ordinance violations in the city.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with an emergency medical call in the 500 block of W. Second Street.

April 24, 2019

  • An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Maverick Lane for a vehicle unlock. The vehicle was unlocked without incident.
  • An officer was called to First and Main streets for a car parked on the highway, causing a traffic hazard around the school. The officer located the out-of-state owner and had the vehicle moved off the highway.
  • An officer served a notice for three junk vehicles on a property in the 500 block of S. Main Street.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency call at the Madrid Elementary School with a child having a severe allergic reaction.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 500 block of E. First Street.
  • An officer was dispatched to do a welfare check in the 300 block of N. Locust Street. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver was given a warning.
  • An officer responded to the 2000 block of S Avenue regarding a burglary alarm. Everything checked okay and was a false alarm. The property owner was notified.

April 25, 2019

  • An officer removed a junk vehicle from the 300 block of N. Market Street with the permission of the owner.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 800 block of S. Cedar Street.
  • An officer served a final notice to the owner of a junk vehicle in Veterans Square.

April 26, 2019

  • An officer spoke to a landlord of a downtown apartment building about a junk vehicle on his property. The landlord stated the vehicle would be removed soon.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who asked for extra patrol after school during a child exchange.
  • An officer received a complaint of a large junk pile at Meadow Estates. The officer called the new park manager and informed them it needed to be cleaned up.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 200 block of W. Sixth Street.
  • An officer responded to Little and Main streets for a report of fireworks and loud music. Upon arrival, the officer found the disturbance had already stopped, but the officer located a possible suspect and advised the suspect of the complaint and asked for the suspect’s assistance in seeing the disturbance not happen again.

April 27, 2019

  • An officer assisted the DEA with a drug drop off at the Madrid Police Department.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction and found the driver to have a suspended Iowa drivers license. Brian Brackney of Johnston was cited and released for driving while suspended.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
