PELLA — Central College sophomore guard Claire Marburger was named by the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Female Athlete of the Week.
The former Perry all-stater helped guide the Dutch to a 3-0 start to their season, averaging 29 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the three victories.
Marburger scored more than 30 points in wins against Grinnell and Bethany Lutheran to open the season. She poured in 32 points, grabbed 15 rebounds while finishing 12-of-12 at the foul line against the Pioneers in the season opener. She had 30 points and nine rebounds against Bethany Lutheran while scoring 25 points Saturday against Robert Morris in Springfield, Il.
A Second Team All-IIAC selection as a freshman last season, this is the second time Marburger has been named Female Athlete of the Week.
