CARROLL — Junior guard Grace Marburger splashed eight 3-pointers in a game for the second time this season, tying the school mark again Friday as Perry snapped a three-game skid with a 64-45 over Carroll for a Raccoon River Conference victory.

Marburger singed the nylon with seven treys in the first half, in which she scored 23 of her game-high 28 points. She added a final triple after the intermission to tie her own standard, set Dec. 21 against Des Moines Hoover, and Allison Long’s eight-bomb effort from 2006.

Perry (8-9, 4-6) had little trouble with Carroll (1-15, 0-10), racing to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. By the half the spread stood at 38-19, with Marburger’s 23 first-half points two more than the entire Jayette team scored Tuesday against No. 5 Ballard.

The third frame ended as did the second — with Perry having doubled Carroll’s score, this time at 50-25. Although the hosts outscored their guests by a 20-14 clip in the final frame the issue had long been decided. The win gave Perry a season sweep, as they had previously topped Carroll, 55-20, Dec. 18.

Mariah Duffy had 10 points for the Jayettes, with Sydney Renning scoring 12 points, grabbing four rebounds, making two assists and blocking two shots for the Tigers, while Bailey Brincks had 10 points and nine boards for the hosts. No additional statistical information was available at the time of this posting.

Perry — barring a likely weather-related postponement — is slated to visit ADM Tuesday before hosting Winterset Friday.
