TYLER, Texas — Perry senior Natalie Martinez scored a goal Friday in a 4-1 Jayette win at Indianola.
The score was her 19th of the season and and added to her school record career scoring title, lifting the new mark to 88.
Earlier Friday Martinez made her collegiate choice official, and she could hardly have chosen a more potent program to join — Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
Head coach Corey Rose will be adding an explosive scorer to a team packed with talent. The Apache Ladies are 45-3-1 over the past two season, winning the NJCAA National Championship in 2017 while falling, 3-1, to Monroe College in the 2018 national title match.
Located midway between Dallas and Shreveport, La, Tyler JC is a two-year school. The Apache Ladies play a fall schedule.
Martinez, who has battled injuries in her career, is a legitimate threat when healthy. Her 19 goals this season have come in only 10 games, with her 88 career scores coming in just 49 appearances.
Perry, coached by Gilmar Guerra, is currently 36-25 over the past four seasons.
