Jocelyn Evans, registered dietitian with the Boone Hy-Vee, led a kids cooking class Tuesday at the McCreary Community Building that featured Halloween-themed dishes such as a goblin smoothie and creepy monster eyeballs.

With the aid of Becky Halling, assistant director of the Perry Parks and Recreation Department, Evans led the 17 young people and a few parents in the recipe preparations.

Other goodies included candy corn trail mix, apple smiles and a pineapple black bean salsa that was scrumptious.
