Ogden’s Heeren, Greene County’s Hinote secure All-State honors

Ogden senior Ben Heeren and Greene County senior Trey Hinote were both selected to the Class 2A boys basketball All-State squads by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.

The 6-6 Heeren was selected to the First Team and Hinote to the Third Team. Three eight-player squads are listed for each class and are not limited to position (as an example, six guards might be chosen).

Heeren’s 609 total points was second-most in 2A, with his 26.5 points per game average tops in the class. He hit 231-of-371 field goals (62 percent), including a 22-of-51 (43 percent) clip beyond the 3-point arc. The swing player drained 125-of-171 (73 percent) free throws.

Heeren grabbed 276 rebounds, two shy of the top spot in 2A. He had 47 assists, 27 steals and 36 blocked shots.

Ogden finished 14-9 overall and 8-7 in WCAC play.

Hinote was a bright spot for Greene County, who was 7-16 overall and 3-10 in HOIAC action.

The 6-0 guard had 433 points, with his 21.7 ppg eighth in 2A. He splashed 86-of-241 3-pointers (36 percent), with his 86 triples second-most in 2A. Hinote converted 67-of-80 (84 percent) foul shots, had 62 rebounds, 39 assists and 29 steals.
