DES MOINES — Woodward-Granger sent sophomore Peyton Nixon (113 pounds), senior Riece Graham (132), junior Dustin Harney (160), and senior Jon McKeever (170) to the Class 2A State Wrestling Tournament Thursday.
Senior Graham (32-12), and Harney (41-9) each bounced back from opening round losses to win in the first round consolation late Thursday and advance.
Fate was not as favorable for McKeever (38-9) and Nixon (35-8), each of who lost twice and were eliminated from further competition.
A win Friday in the second-round consolation matches for Graham and Harney would assure either of a spot on the final podium, while a loss would end their respective seasons.
