The PACES students — many of whom will no doubt line the streets of Perry for the annual Independence Day parade — walked in their own parade Tuesday.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]
Students gathered outside the flag pole at Perry Elementary School in the late morning to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Then they marched along the sidewalks, many tossing candy to family and friends who lined the route.
Patriot hats and other handmade crafts adorned many of the marchers. PACES Director Mary Hillman said the youngsters have been learning about the meaning of Independence Day.
Since the program will be closed for the holiday, the students were allowed to march in their own Third of July parade. Given the smiles and laughter, it was clear the opportunity was happily accepted.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]
