PANORA — The Panther soccer teams will likely grow by a handful of players next season after the Panorama School Board approved a sharing agreement with nearby school AC/GC, effective for the upcoming season.

Players attending AC/GC who wish to play soccer had been forced to travel to West Central Valley or Nodaway Valley, despite the connections already in place between the Guthrie Center and Panora youth programs.

Beginning in the spring of 2019, Charger students will practice, and play, as members of the Panther soccer teams. The agreement mirrors the former arrangement Panorama enjoyed for many seasons with Perry before the Panthers started their own program in 2018.

“It just made a lot of sense on many levels,” Panorama Superintendent Shawn Holloway said. “We used to be in the situation they are in, sending students elsewhere (to Perry), so we felt we should say yes to them (AC/GC).”

Panorama’s girls team was 12-5 in their inaugural season while the Panther boys finished 2-9. Curt Thornberry is the girls head coach, with Matt Fronapfel guiding the boys squad.
