PANORA — Junior Luke South hurled an 11-strikeout, three-hit shutout to help lift host Panorama to a 4-0 win over Pleasantville Thursday, salvaging a split in their WCAC doubleheader as the Trojans and escaped with a 6-5 win in the opener.

South walked only one in his dominant outing, with a four-run bottom of the third inning giving the right hander more than enough support.

Sophomores Drew and Evan Taylor each played a key offensive role, with former belting a two-run home run while the latter had a RBI-double, each scoring once. South added a double, Koltin Sloss a RBI-single and Dominic Walker and Levi Richey base hits.

Both Walker and Richey scored, with Evan Taylor and Walker each swiping two bases while Preston Walker also stole a base.

Grant Fouch threw five inning, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one. Jake De Joode tossed one inning, yielding a hit while striking out two.

Panorama (1-1, 1-1) was the visitor in the first game and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, only to see Pleasantville (1-3, 1-1) respond with four runs in their half of the frame to take a three-run lead.

The hosts grabbed a 5-4 lead in the fourth, but the guests scored once to tie the game in their ensuing at-bat. The final Trojan run crossed the dish in the bottom of the fifth, with the Panthers unable to score and at least tie the score in their final two innings at the plate.

Drew Taylor went 3-1/3 innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out seven. Hunter Holmes threw the final 2-2/3, allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks while fanning four.

Drew Taylor had a triple, a single and two RBIs, with Evan Taylor adding a hit, a walk and two RBIs while freshman Brice Taylor scored once. South had two hits and Richey one, with Preston Walker drawing a walk. Richey, Holmes, Malachi Peasley and Preston Walker all scored once for the Panthers.

Quinton Berglund went all seven innings for the Trojans. He was touched for five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while notching five strikeouts.

Cael Lester drove in four runs with a single and a double, with Wyatt Clark providing two single and two runs while Berglund added a RBI-double.

Panorama is at Madrid Tuesday for a conference tilt before visiting Van Meter Thursday for a WCAC varsity doubleheader.
