PANORA — The home pitch was successfully defended Monday by both the Panorama boys and girls soccer teams, with Clarke the non-conference victim in both matches.

The Class 1A 10th-ranked Panthers (6-1) were 10-0 winners in the girls match, with the Panther boys (4-3) a 4-3 victor in their contest.

Paige Cmelik opened the scoring in the first match with an unassisted goal less than four minutes into the game. Ella Waddle scored off a Cmelik assist in the seventh minute, with Laci Rishel assisting on a second Waddle goal 96 seconds later, with Rishel making it 4-0 off a Jaelyn Waddle pass in the 11th minute.

Unassisted goals from Ella Waddle (12th minute), Cmelik (13th minute) and Ella Waddle (16th minute) rocketed the score to 7-0. Panorama began rotating their entire rotation, save goalie Ashley Clarke, midway through the first half, with Audrey Cmelik — who began the game on defense — moving to the front and scoring in the 26th minute.

Jaelyn Waddle capped the first half offense with her first goal of the season, the play set up by the first assist of the season from Anna Holloway.

Deanna Solorzano beat the Indian (0-5) keeper seven minutes into the second half to end the contest early.

Ella Waddle now has 14 goals, Audrey Cmelik 11, Paige Cmelik eight and Rishel seven. Jaelyn Waddle raised her team-high assist total to nine, with Paige Cmelik having seven assists and Rishel two.

The Panorama boys doubled their victory total from last season thanks to three goals from Mitchell Dickson and one from David Mendez.

Clarke (3-2) scored first, but Dickson countered soon after to tie the match. Mendez scored to make it 2-1, with a Dickson goal giving the hosts a 3-1 lead before the Indians added a score to create a 3-2 Panther lead at the break.

Dickson scored just 20 seconds after the intermission for a key insurance goal for Panorama. The Panthers needed the fourth strike, as Clarke closed to within 4-3, but then could not find the net again thanks in part to strong play in goal by Kyle Cogil.

Eric Rosales assisted on three goals in his first game of the season, with Dickson assisting on the Mendez goal.

Panorama will return to action Friday when they host Underwood in a coed bill. The girls match will begin at 5 p.m. and the boys contest at 7 p.m.
