Panorama divides pair with Greene County Monday

PANORA — The Panorama girls had no difficulty in topping winless Greene County Monday, but the visiting Rams surprised the Panther boys with a win in their non-conference battle.

Panorama (16-1) was an easy winner, 58-14, over Greene County (0-17) in the opener, but a strong play in the middle two quarters lifted the Rams (6-12) to an 83-69 win over the Panther boys (8-9).

Bailey Beckman had 19 points, Morgan Johnk 13, Payton Beckman eight and Lydia Knapp seven to pace the Panther girls. Vallerie Storesund added four points, Brooke Halterman, Anna Holloway and Ella Waddle two points apiece and Jaelyn Waddle one.

Johnk had five rebounds, three steals and two blocks, with Storesund providing three assists and three steals while Payton Beckman tallied six caroms, four assists and five thefts.

Panorama opened a 22-4 lead after one quarter and led, 40-5, at the intermission.

Sadie Wilson had five points for the Rams, with Brianna Habben adding three while Izzy Bravard, Brianna Osterman and Bailey Cunningham each scored two points.

The Panthers were off to a 21-17 lead after one frame in the boys game, but a 25-16 second quarter and a 21-13 third shot the Rams into a 63-50 lead with one period to play.

Trey Hinote and Carter Morton melted the nylon on the nets with blistering shooting, Hinote hitting 5-of-10 3-pointers and 10-of-13 at the foul line for 35 points while Morton was 4-of-8 on triples and 8-of-9 at the stripe for 26 points.

Tyler Miller had nine points, John Rosado five, and Nick Breon, Cael Fisher, Eddie Goff and Xavier Hayes two each.

Gracen Welberg led Panorama with 26 points, with Kolby Shackelford pouring in 24. Malachi Peasley had eight points, Lucas Leiferman four, Evan Taylor three and Trey Cob and Zach Rizzuti two each.

Welberg finished with 12 rebounds and two blocked shots ,with Cobb snaring five boards while Peasley dished four assists.

Panorama recognized their seniors between games. Bailey Beckman, Jaelyn Waddle, Johnk, Knapp, Halterman and Storesund were honored from the girls team, with the Cobb, Welberg and Alias Stahl saluted from the boys squad.
