Panorama divides set on the hardwood against IKM-Manning

MANNING — A Saturday matinee saw host IKM-Manning claim a 78-57 win over Panorama while the Panther boys pulling away late to slip off with a 48-45 victory over the Wolves.

Panorama (2-0) won the closing game by breaking open a contest that was tight throughout. The guests trailed by three after one quarter and by two after two, but then managed to knot the contest at 39-all entering the fourth period.

The Panthers buried 9-of-19 3-pointers and hit 7-of-13 free throws in the win. Kolby Shackelford and Zach Rizzuti each had three 3-pointers for the guests, with Malachi Peasley splashing two treys and Jared Wasson one.

Peasley had 13 points and Shackelford and Rizzuti 11 each to guide Panorama. Wasson, Evan Taylor and Dominic Walker provided three points apiece, with both Lucas Leiferman and Michael Allen scoring two points.

Rizzuti had eight rebounds, with Peasley grabbing five boards and making three assists.

Colby Keller had 15 points and Colten Brandt 10 to lead the Wolves (2-1).

The Panther girls had no answer for Wolves guard Alexa Ahrenholz, who scorched the nets with five 3-pointers and sank 9-of-10 foul shots to lead all scorers with 36 points. Lexi Branning added 21 to help fuel the attack.

IKM-Manning led, 23-7, after one frame and 50-25 at the break. They finished 27-of-40 at the free throw line, with Panorama 21-of-33.

Payton Beckman led the visitors with 24 points, with Laci Rishel adding 15. Shey Storesund scored nine points and Angel Poldberg six, with two points form Gabby Welberg and one from Anna Holloway capping the scoring.

Beckman and Rishel each hit two 3-pointers, with the former having four rebounds and three assists and the later four boards and four steals.

Panorama plays boys/girls sets at Pleasantville Monday and against visiting West Central Valley Friday. A rescheduled junior varsity/varsity girls-only set will be played Thursday when Harlan visits Panora.
