ATLANTIC — The Panorama softball team fell twice to host Van Meter Thursday and dropped two games at the Atlantic tournament Saturday. However, the Panthers also picked up a win over the weekend, ending a rough start to their season.

Panorama (1-7 overall, 0-5 in WCAC play) needed just three innings to claim a 12-0 win over Red Oak Saturday, with Lydia Knapp collecting the win on the rubber. She did not allow a run and yielded a hit and four walks while recording eight strikeouts.

The offensive heroines were many, with Kennedy Andersen driving in four runs on three hits with Shey Storesund adding three hits and scoring three times while Claire Woodworth had a double, a single and two RBIs.

Lindsey Van Gundy had two hits, with Olivia Richey, Ashley Clark, Hannah Woodworth and Jazmyn Sellers adding hits. Richey and Sellers each had two RBIs, with Knapp and Hannah Woodworth both driving in a run. Hannah Woodworth and Sydney Vogel each scored twice, with Shelbie Mash and Grace Weber also crossing the plate.

Panorama dropped games of 16-6 to Creston and of 9-2 to Harlan at the tourney.

Creston had scored nine times in the top of the first, but Panorama scored once in their first at-bat and then five times in their second to get back into the game. Unfortunately, the battle of Panthers remained in favor of the guests on the scoreboard, who moved into an 11-6 lead in the third and then tacked on a final five runs in the fourth, the game eventually ending early.

Grace Richey last 1/3 of an inning, allowing six runs (four earned) on hour hits and a walk while Cassidy Hoehne was touched for seven runs (four earned) on five hits and a walk in three frames of work. Olivia Richey pitched 1/3 of an inning, walking three, allowing one hit and surrendering three runs (two earned). Hoehne struck out two and Olivia Richey one.

Knapp drove in four runs with a single and double, with Hannah Woodworth recording two hits and a RBI. Storesund, Anderson and Claire Woodworth also had hits and Andersen a RBI. Both Woodworth sisters scored once, as did Andersen, with Storesund scoring twice.

Grace Richey suffered the pitching loss against Harlan, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk in three frames. Hoehne yielded two unearned runs on four hits in two innings while Knapp tossed one inning, surrendering four runs on five hits. Richey and Hoehne each had a strikeout.

Andersen belted two doubles, with Van Gundy, Claire Woodworth and Olivia Richey tallying singles. Richey drove in two runs with Clark and Sellers scoring.

Host Van Meter made short work of Panorama Thursday, winning 12-0 and 10-0 in a WCAC twin bill.

Claire Woodworth had a double and Grace Richey a base hit in the opener while Storesund and Olivia Richey had singles in the nightcap, during which Olivia Richey and Van Gundy drew walks.

Grace Richey and Knapp were saddled with the pitching losses for the Panthers.

Panorama will visit AC/GC tonight and host Ogden Tuesday. They are then off until playing in the Southeast Webster tourney, in Harcourt, Saturday.
