Panorama girls fourth, boys fifth at Perry

The Panorama thinclads made their traditional visit to the 10th annual Davis Family Relays in Perry Thursday, with both squads having their share of bright moments.

AC/GC edged Winterset, 132-129, for the top girls team honors, with Carroll third at 113. Panorama was fourth with 110 points, with Saydel fifth at 49 and Perry sixth at 46.

The boys side went to Carroll, who rolled up 172 points, with a strong showing in field events helping the Tigers pull away from Perry, who was a distant second at 106. AC/GC nipped Des Moines Christian, 89-88, for third, with Panorama fifth on 78 points and Saydel sixth on 20 points.

Devyn Kemble had a strong meet for the Panther girls, winning the 400 in 1 minute, 3.52 seconds and finishing second, in 28.71 seconds, in the 200. She edged sophomore teammate Morgan Johnk, 13.92 to 13.98, for second place in the 100, and later anchored the wining 4×400 team that finished in 4:32.5. Bailey Beckman, Payton Douglass and Brooke Halterman also ran on the relay.

Douglass was second (1:17.28) and Johnk third (1:17.92) in the 400 low hurdles, with Johnk second (17.96) and Abigail Brown fifth (19.26) in the 100 hurdles while Maggie Woodvine, Lydia Knapp, Maddie Knapp and Brown placed fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:18.6).

Emily Smith was fifth in the 800 (2:52.41), Brianna Hoffman sixth in the 1500 (6:23.44) and Brooklyn Behrends fourth in the 3000 (13:29.51).

Lydia Knapp, Halterman, Beckman and Johnk were third in the 4×100 (55.08), Beckman, Carson Fisher, Hope Arganbright and Lydia Knapp were second in the 4×200 (1:58.91) while Hoffman, Taylor Rishel, Emily Smith and Lydia Lindstrom placed third in the 4×800 (11:40.82).

The sprint medley foursome of Kellie Prince, Maddie Knapp, Arganbright and Fisher crossed fourth in 2:10.14, with the quartet of Douglass, Maddie Knapp, Prince and Behrends fifth in the distance medley in 5:23.01.

Panorama received fourth-place points from Beckman in the long jump after a flight of 14 feet, 9-1/4 inches. Lydia Knapp’s discus spin of 89’10 placed fifth, with Kennedy Andersen sixth in the shot put with a heave of 29’2.

Koltin Sloss was third for the Panther boys in both the shot put (36’9) and discus (108’1), with Spencer Hunt third in the long jump after landing 17’7 from the board.

Danny Nordquist posted third place finishes in the 1600 (5:18.73) and 3200 (11:31.04), with Blaine Barber sixth in the 200 (25.45) while Hunt was third (57.38) and Conner Meinecke fifth (1:00.52) in the 400. Luke South was third (17.69) and Drew Hafner (22.75) fifth in the 110 high hurdles, with South third in the 400 low hurdles (1:07.3) while Levi Richer crossed sixth in the 800 in 2:19.93.

Meinecke, Hunt, Barber and Allias Stahl were fourth in the 4×100 (48.44), with Jeramy Randol, Aaron Irving, Kyle Cogil and Jadyn Howard fifth in the 4×200 (1:51.49) while Emry Colby, Levi Richey, Barber and Hunt combined for fourth in the 4×400 (3:54.11).

The shuttle hurdle unit of Sam Webster, Drew Hafner, Cogil and Stagg were third in 1:20.72, with Meinecke, Bryce Halterman, Stagg and Colby placed fourth in the sprint medley in 1:52.7 while a 4:22.7 clocking from Bennie Barroso, Stahl, Halterman and Colby earned fourth place in the distance medley.

Panorama will host the annual Panther Invitational Tuesday, with AC/GC, Glidden-Ralston, Grand View Christian, Greene County, Iowa Christian Academy, Madrid, Ogden and Woodward-Granger all competing as well. Both Panther squads will then take part in the Coon Rapids-Bayard Invite Thursday, which will be held at AC/GC.
