Panorama girls rip Red Oak in first round

PANORA — Panorama outscored Red Oak, 24-10, in each of the first two quarters Saturday en route to a 72-33 win in Class 3A Region 1 action.

The win will have the Panthers (18-4) hosting Shenandoah (11-10), a 53-51 winner over Clarinda (3-18) Saturday, in a Wednesday meeting. The game will tip at 7 p.m. with the victor moving on to the Feb. Region 1 Final. The opposite semifinal will pit Cherokee/Wasington (20-0) against Atlantic (9-13).

Payton Beckman had 22 points to lead Panorama, with Laci Rishel adding 21. Angel Poldberg scored nine points and Ella Waddle seven, with six points from Shey Storesund, five from Tyme Boettcher and two from Gabby Welberg capping the scoring.

Beckman had four 3-pointers, with Rishel, Poldberg, Waddle, and Boettcher also connecting from deep outside.

Rishel provided six rebounds, seven assists and five steals, and Beckman six board, five assists and seven thefts. Poldberg aided the winning cause with seven caroms, with Waddle coming away with five steals.
