Panorama grapplers pin down three victories

MARTENSDALE — Thursday proved to be a triple dose of success for the Panorama wrestlers as the Panthers collected a trio of victories at a quadrangular hosted by Martensdale-St. Marys.

Panorama topped the home team, 39-29, and also recorded wins of 45-18 over East Union and of 59-12 over Southwest Valley. M-SM defeated East Union, 50-24, and Southwest Valley, 48-18, with East Union a 36-12 victor over Southwest Valley in the other duals.

Five Panthers ran the table with perfect 3-0 marks. Logan Christie (113 pounds) won by decision and twice by forfeit, as did Wyatt Appleseth (145) and Emry Colby (160), with Noah Kirtley (152) recording a pin, a technical fall and a forfeit. Garret Fox was perfect as well, scoring two pins at 170 and then collecting a final pin at 182.

Ryan Fees (132) had a pin and a forfeit, with Jacob Holwegner (138) twice finding no opponent to face, with James Hein (195) 2-1 by two forfeits as well. Heavyweight Hunter Holmes had a pin and a forfeit to also post a 2-1 mark.

Other wins came from Cameron Archer, who collected a forfeit at 170, while Josh Van Winkle was 1-2 with one forfeit. The Panthers twice left 182 undefended and offered triple forfeits to their foes at 106, 120 and 220.

Panorama will visit the 18-team Perry Invitational Saturday, then will join Southeast Warren and Van Meter/Earlham for a quadrangular at Interstate-35 in Truro Thursday.
