Panorama netters spike WCV for first conference win

PANORA — Two narrow wins and a third-set blowout lifted Panorama over visiting West Central Valley in WCAC volleyball Tuesday.

Panorama improved to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play be grabbing tight 25-23 and 25-22 wins, setting up a clinching 25-9 thumping in a decisive third set.

The loss drops WCV to 1-16, 0-5. Bailey McLaughlin had six kills and five digs while serving 5-of-5 with an ace for the Wildcats. Grace Dupuy was 11-12-6 behind the line while adding three kills and two blocks.

Meredith Marks was 10-12-2 for the guests, with Abigail Speichanger 9-of-9 while providing 15 assists.

Brooke Halterman’s 10 kills led the Panthers, with Nicole Rolfes recording seven kills and Morgan Johnk five while Kennedy Kuta and Hope Wilderman had two kills apiece and Carson Fisher one.

Kuta had 20 assists, Fisher five and Erica Block and Hannah Woodworth one each. Olivia Richey made 11 digs, Johnk eight and Kuta three, with Block providing two digs and Rolfes and Woodworth one apiece while Fisher and Halterman each made a block.

Wilderman was 15-15-2 and Kuta 14-15-5 behind the line for the hosts, with Woodworth 6-7-1. Johnk served 14-of-14, Rolfes 10-of-10 and Richey 3-of-4.

Panorama will join AHSTW, Audubon, CAM, Essex, Exira-Elk Horn/Kimballton and Lenox at the Southwest Valley tourney in Corning Saturday. The Panthers will visit the Saydel Invite Monday with Clarke, Des Moines East, Des Moines North and WCV also in action. The busy stretch concludes Tuesday with a trip to Van Meter.
