Panorama posts wins over visiting Ogden

PANORA, Iowa — A strong second half allowed the Panorama boys to pull away from Ogden, 65-50, for a WCAC win on the home hardwood Friday, with the No. 4 Panther girls winning by a final of 75-4.

Panorama (6-4, 5-2) found themselves in a 30-28 hole at the intermission, but used a six-point scoring edge in the third quarter to grab a narrow 44-40 lead entering the final frame.

A 21-10 run down the stretch proved decisive, allowing the Panthers to claim the win.

Braedon Draper had 20 points and eight rebounds for Panorama, with Braylon Dawes adding 15 points and five assists while Jared Wasson finished with 12 points and 10 boards.

Brice Taylor sank three 3-pointers (as did Dawes) to score nine points, with Madodx Hammerstrom tallying seven points and four assists and Austin Block two points and five assists.

Panorama (11-0, 8-0) allowed Ogden (0-10, 0-7) to score two points in the first quarter and two in the fourth. Period.

The hosts came away with 40 steals in 32 minutes, and led, 49-2, at the half.

Payton Beckman had 21 points, Jaidyn Sellers 18 and Laci Rishel 12 for the home team. Angel Poldberg and Mia Waddle both scored seven points, with Lindy Nelson adding four points while Tyme Boettcher, Zoey Hambleton and Gabby Wellburg had two points apiece.

Waddle and Boettcher had five rebounds each and Rishel four, with Rishel, Sellers and Waddle recording eight steals apiece while Beckman had five thefts.

Panorama visits Greene County for a non-conference twin bill Monday, then visits WCAC foe Madrid Tuesday before hosting conference rival Van Meter Friday. A non-conference set at Nodaway Valley is scheduled for Jan. 15 to cap a busy week.
