DES MOINES — Panorama rallied from a 5-0 deficit to abscond with a 6-5 win over host Des Moines Christian in the first game of a WCAC softball twin bill Thursday. The second game was not as kind to the Panthers, as the Lions roared to a 13-0 three-inning win to split the doubleheader.

Panorama scored once in the top of the fifth inning of the opener, then tied the game with four tallies in the sixth. A final run in the seventh provided a 6-5 edge, with the defense keeping the Lions from scoring in their last at-bat to secure the win.

Grace Richey tossed all seven innings for the win, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk. She finished with six strikeouts.

Lydia Knapp had a double and two singles with Vallerie Storesund adding two hits and Ashley Clark one. Each had a single RBI.

The big blow came from Hannah Woodworth, who three-run double in the fifth brought victory within reach.

Caitlin Kellner yielded six runs (three earned) on a walk and 12 hits while striking out two.

Emily Turnquist hit a home run and a single while driving in two runs, with Emma Veenstra adding a double and Kellner a RBI-double.

Kaleigh Friend held Panorama to three hits and three walks as DMC controlled the second game. She fanned one batter and helped herself with a home run and three RBIs while Kellner drove in five runs with a home run and a double.

Cassidy Hoehne surrendered 13 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and three walks in three innings.

Lindsey VanGundy had two singles and Woodworth a base hit for Panorama.
