GUTHRIE CENTER — Panorama head track coach Greg Thompson said he had tweaked his lineups with an eye on being as fresh as possible for Thursday’s state qualifying meet.

He may have, but the team scores hardly reveal as much, as the Panther girls easily won their side of the Hap Merritt Invite, scoring 188 points as Madrid (125.5) placed second and Van Meter (97.5) third in the eight-team field.

Madrid (81), Underwood (77), and Van Meter (74) were the top three in the boys competition, with Panorama (39) 11th out of 14 teams.

Morgan Johnk won the 200 in 27.87 seconds and was third, in 13.92, in the 100 while teammate Hope Arganbright placed fifth in 14.49.

Devyn Kemble and Lydia Lindstrom were 1-2 in the 400, in 1:00.95 and 1:04.69, respectively, with Kemble and Gwen Steffen 1-2 in the 1500 in 5:31.96 and 5:35.04.

Olivia Steffen (2:41.75), Brooklyn Behrends (2:44.58), and Lydia Knapp (2:47.66) were 3-5-7 in the 800, with Jordan Brown crossing fourth in the 3000 in 15:31.74.

Maddie Knapp (17.35) and Payton Douglass (17.91) were 2-4 in the 100 hurdles, with Douglass fourth, in 1:17.55, and Maddie Knapp sixth, in 1:23.46, in the 400 low hurdles.

Lydia Knapp won the discus with a spin of 132 feet, 10 inches, and placed eighth, at 29’4-3/4, in the shot put while Bailey Beckman (17’2) and Kassidy Bremer (15’11) finished 1-3 in the long jump.

As usual, the Panthers owned the relays, winning six and placing second in the 4×100.

Carson Fisher, Shey Storesund, Bremer, and Maggie Woodvine ran the 4×200 (1:53.17), Johnk, Lidstrom, Douglass and Brianna Hoffman the 4×400 (4:18.42), and Gwen and Olivia Steffen, along with Hoffman and Behrends, the 4×800 (10:41.84).

Arganbright, Lindstrom, Fisher and Johnk ran the sprint medley (1:59.46), Kemble, Bremer, Beckman, and Gwen Steffen the distance medley (4:40.1) and Storesund, Douglass, Woodvine, and Maddie Knapp the shuttle hurdle (1:11.3) while Fisher, Storesund, Bremer and Beckman had to settle for second in the 4×100 (53.24).

Dan Jensen was second, at 156’7, in the discus, with Koltin Sloss eighth at 130’8 while Jensen placed fourth, at 47’9-3/4, in the shot put.
