Panorama trio excel at Drake Relays

DES MOINES — Three Panorama athletes were in action at the Drake Relays Thursday, and the results were impressive for each thinclad.

Lydia Knapp led the way by placing third in the all-class event with a spin of 135 feet, 1 inch in the discus. Panorama is the top-ranked team in 2A, and 2A’s Jamie Kofron of Tipton (147 feet) and Brylie Zeisneiss of South Hardin (141’1) claimed the top two spots. The top five, and six of the top eight in the discus were from 2A schools.

Bailey Beckman was 10th overall in the long jump after landing 16’10-3/4 from the board. She was second among 2A finishers, trailing only Greene County’s Brianna Osterson, who was seventh at 17’3.

Gracen Welberg was in action in the boys high jump. He cleared 6’1 to finish 19th overall, which was 10th among 2A competitors.

Panorama’s Morgan Johnk will compete in two events today. She will run in the 100 high hurdles and also vie for honors in the high jump.
