Panorama wins four of six matches last week

PERRY — The Panorama volleyballers posted a 3-2 mark in the Perry Invitational Thursday, two days after sweeping host Madrid in WCAC action.

Panorama defeated host Perry by a 21-12 and 21-16 final, with a scores of 21-15 and 21-11 topping Coon Rapids-Bayard while it required a 21-13, 11-21 and 15-9 series to upend Ogden. The two Panther losses Thursday came to Carlisle (21-19, 21-14) and to Earlham (22-24, 21-13, 15-7).

Brooke Halterman had 32 kills and Morgan Johnk 20 to pace the Panthers in invitational play. Bailey Beckman had seven kills, Olivia Richey five, Erica Block and Maggie Woodvine four apiece and Kennedy Kuta two. Halterman had five blocks and Beckman 2.5, with Johnk making two blocks and Kuta 1.5.

Richey had 18 digs and Kuta 17, with Block adding 10 digs. Maggie Woodvine had nine digs and Beckman eight, with Halterman recording six, Johnk five and Payton Douglass four. Kuta provided 63 assists and Beckman one.

Kuta served 41-of-46 with seven aces, with Halterman 25-29-3 and Richey 16-18-4. Beckman was 16-18-2, Johnk 16-19-1 and Block 14-16-1, with Douglass 16-18-3 and Woodvine 10-of-12.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

Panorama was coming off a 3-0 sweep of host Madrid in WCAC play Tuesday. The Panthers were victorious with finals of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18.

Halterman had 12 kills and Johnk eight, with Block adding five kills, Richey four, Beckman two and Kuta one. Kuta had 28 assists, with Block and Hannah Woodworth each recording one. Johnk had 2.5 blocks and Halterman two while Beckman stuffed one Tiger kill attempt.

Block led the defense with six digs, with Halterman, Johnk and Richey making five digs apiece. Beckman and Woodworth had three digs each, with Kuta making one.

Halterman was 14-16-3 behind the line and Kuta 13-14-2 with Richey 7-11-1 and Woodworth 7-8-1. Johnk finished 15-of-15 and Block 8-of-8.

Panorama visits Pleasantville Tuesday before playing in the Southwest Valley Tourney Saturday. AHSTW, Atlantic, Audubon, CAM, Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton and CR-B will also be in action.
