Panorama wrestlers hit the mats at Central Decatur

LEON, Iowa — Panorama competed Friday in the Dan Christensen Invitational, finishing the team standings sixth out of 14 squads with 78 total points.

Ottumwa won a tiebreaker to nip Winterset for top team honors with 215 points, with Mid-Buchanan third at 190.5.

Senior 220-pounder Cooper Andersen (11-0) was the lone champion for Panorama. He was 3-0 with a trio of pins, winning in 1 minute, 10 seconds, 3:09 and in 4:30 over Central Decatur’s Tegan Carson, who was, like Andersen, 10-0 when their match began.

James Hein (2-1) finished 2-1 with pins in 26 seconds and in 4:47 to finish second at 182 pounds, the only other Panther finalist.

Joel Cooper (8-4) was 2-2 with pins in 51 and in 62 seconds to place fourth at 285, with Keyton Van Gundy (5-6) fifth at 182 with a 2-2 mark that included a pair of pins.

Landon Kirtley (8-6) and Will Knapp (6-7) were each sixth, doing so at 120 and 132, respectively. Kirtley was 2-3 and Knapp 1-3.

Cayden Van Meet (9-4) had a 3-2 record to finish seventh at 145, winning with a pin and decisions of 6-2 and of 6-0, with Lane Christe (7-5) 2-2 with a pin and a win by injury default to place eighth at 106.

Emmett King (1-8), Gabe Wagner (0-10) and Colby Waltz (1-8) were all 0-2 and unable to earn a placing, King at 152, Wagner at 160 and Waltz at 170. Maddox Nunn (1-9) did not place at 126 after dropping all three of his matches.

The Panthers did not have entries at either 113 or 195 pounds.

Panorama hosts AC/GC, Ogden and Southeast Valley for a quadrangular Thursday. They will conclude the pre-holiday portion of their season Saturday at the WCAC tourney, which will be hosted by Ogden.
